Domaine Weinbach

Domaine Weinbach, a prestigious winery in Alsace, France, is committed to biodynamic viticulture. In 1998, they began practicing biodynamic methods on 8 hectares of their vineyards, and since 2005, all 28 hectares of their vineyards have been managed biodynamically. Their wines are certified both organic by Ecocert and biodynamic by Demeter.

The winery produces wines that express the diversity of its soils and terroirs. It carefully selects individual plots to produce Grand Cru wines, including Cuvée Théo, Colette, Ste Catherine, and Laurence, Terroirs Clos des Capucins and Altenbourg, and Grand Cru Schlossberg, Furstentum, Mambourg, and Marckrain.

Domaine Weinbach's historical enclosed vineyard, Clos des Capucins, is a monopole vineyard planted with all Alsatian grape varieties. The soil is sandy silt with granite pebbles, and the vineyard produces early-ripening, fruit-forward wines. The varieties in Clos des Capucins and the surrounding vineyards include Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir.

The winery's viticulture and vinification practices are tailored to each combination of variety-terroir-microclimate to perfectly reflect the identity of each location, always with balance and elegance, which has become the signature of Domaine Weinbach.

Albert Boxler

Located in the municipality of Niedermorschwier in the French region of Alsace, Domaine Albert Boxler has been producing wine since 1673. The winery has a rich tradition of winemaking that has been passed down through the Boxler family for generations.

Today, the business is managed by Jean Boxler, who took over in 1995. Domaine Albert Boxler produces wines exclusively from its own grapes, with 80% of the fruit coming from the two Alsace Grand Cru sites, Brand and Sommerberg. The winery cultivates white wine varieties, including Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Muscat (Muscat Blanc), and Silvaner.

Domaine Albert Boxler's winemaking process is unique because the wines are fermented spontaneously with the vineyard's yeasts. Aging is carried out in old barrels, allowing the wines to develop complexity and character over time.

In addition to still wines, the winery produces Crémants and an Edelzwicker. The Crémants are made traditionally, with secondary fermentation in the bottle. At the same time, the Edelzwicker is a blend of several different grape varieties, reflecting the diverse character of the vineyard's terroir. Maison Trimbach

Maison Trimbach, a winery with viticultural origins dating back to 1626, produces wines in five distinct ranges, each with unique qualities and characteristics. The range includes classics, wines from a strict selection of vines, Réserve Personnelle wines, the Riesling and Grand Cru Collection, and Vendanges Tardives and Sélections de Grains Nobles.

The winery mainly cultivates Riesling but produces Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Noir, Blanc, Sylvaner, and Muscat. Over the years, twelve generations of the Trimbach family have been devoted to the passion for Alsace wines, developing a solid reputation for quality and authenticity. The 13th generation has recently joined the estate.

One of the winery's most prestigious signature wines is the Frédéric Emile, sought after by connoisseurs and collectors alike. This wine is produced from the Grands Crus Geisberg and Osterberg terroirs of Ribeauvillé, which overlook the estate.

The Clos Sainte Hune, another prized wine from the winery, has belonged to the Trimbach family for over two centuries and covers an area of 1.67 hectares. The vineyard benefits from a southeast exposure on a subsoil dominated by Muschelkalk and yellow limestone, resulting in a specific fragrance and remarkable fruit concentration. The wine has a delicate hint of minerality at the end of the palate and an incredible length, which are the typical signs of recognition for Clos Ste Hune after a few years of aging.

Marcel Deiss

Marcel Deiss is a family-owned estate in Bergheim, Alsace, founded in 1947. The Deiss family has a long history of winegrowing and settled in Alsace after the Thirty Years War. The estate is currently managed by Mathieu Deiss with the help of his father, Jean-Michel. The Deiss family has always been committed to producing high-quality wines based on terroir expression rather than cloned grape varieties, focusing on biodynamic principles.

In the vineyard, Marcel Deiss practices biodynamic farming with various techniques to respect astronomical cycles, promote biodiversity, and protect the environment. The estate uses natural preparations and compost to support the soil's microbial life, excluding synthetic fertilizers and weed killers. Instead, they work the soil to encourage root development and terroir expression, use natural products to fight diseases, and plant hedges, fruit trees, and insect or mammal nests in the vineyard to encourage wildlife.

In the cellar, Marcel Deiss continues to apply biodynamic principles by using only natural yeasts from each grape and each vineyard without adding synthetic yeasts or other additives. They respect natural fermentation and do not use nitrogen deficiency correctors, bacteria or enzymes, aromatic additives, or gum Arabic.

Marcel Deiss's dedication to biodynamic principles results in wines deeply reflective of the terroir from which they come, unique and healthy. Marcel Deiss has earned AB and Demeter certifications, recognizing its commitment to biodynamic practices. The estate's wines are a testament to the Deiss family's heritage and commitment to producing high-quality wines that respect the environment and consumers' health.


Domaine Klipfel

In 1824, Martin Klipfel founded the Klipfel Domain, now a 40-hectare family estate. In 1830, Martin also acquired the renowned Clos Zisser. Martin's son, Eugène, and grandson, Louis Klipfel, significantly expanded the business.

In 1921, Eugène and Louis Klipfel became pioneers in producing "Vendanges Tardives" (late harvests) and "Sélection de Grains Nobles" (selection of noble grapes) on the Clos Zisser and on the Kirchberg of Barr, more than sixty years before these two vineyards were officially recognized as appellations.

The family business was further developed by André Lorentz, a former member of the Académie du vin de France (the renowned Academy of French wines). Today, the business is run by Jean-Louis Lorentz-Klipfel and his daughters, Anne-Sophie, Marie, and Amélie.

The Klipfel Cellar houses wines from 1921, 1929, 1939, 1942, 1943, 1945, and 1959. In 1984, the Klipfel Estate was among the first to use French oak barrels from Burgundy, the famous "Red Barrels," to mature its Pinot Noir wine.

Clos Zisser is an iconic Clos vineyard situated within the Grand Cru vineyard of Kirchberg de Barr in the northern part of Alsace's wine-growing district. The historic vineyard, covering 3.8 hectares (9.5 acres), is a monopole of Domaine Klipfel, which acquired the site in 1830, just six years after establishing the domain.
