Sommelier's Daily Planner

As a sommelier, your days are filled with wine. You learn about wine, taste wine, and talk about wine. It's a lot of work, but it's also much fun.

You start your day by checking in with the restaurant director or F&B Director to see what events are happening that day. If there is a special event, you'll need to ensure that the wine list is up to date and that you have enough wine on hand. You also need to check on any private parties that may be happening and make sure that their wine needs are taken care of for your guests.

Then, it's time for a tasting. This is when you sample new wines to add to the list of old favorites that you need to check on. Finally, you take notes on the wine to remember what you liked (or didn't like) about it.

After the tasting, you'll likely have some downtime before the dinner service starts.

This is an excellent time to catch up on paperwork or do more research on wine. Once dinner service starts, though, It's go time! Again, you're responsible for ensuring that all of the tables have the wine they need and that they're happy with their choices.

At the end of the night, it's time to close up the restaurant. First, you check with the director or F&B Manager to see if there are any special instructions for the next day. Then, you count all the wine bottles and ensure they're all accounted for next to your inventory.
